Hello all!

I've been milling around the forums for a few weeks, so I thought it might be time to introduce myself.

My name is Logan, and I've had a interest in vintage computers from a young age, of around 10! Even slightly stranger, is that I was born in 1998..

I got into the hobby through C64 chiptunes that I heard on various websites. After a while of using an emulator to play C64 games, I decided I wanted the real thing. At the time, I had no real clue about hardware in 30 odd year old computers, and the thought of my 64 arriving broken hadn't entered my mind. Sure enough, my -new- C64 didn't work. Therefore, I had to fix it.

Everything kicked off from there, and now I'm here.

My workshop is pretty set up. I've got access to all sorts of old and odd test gear and hardware.

I've been getting into older PCs recently, which I haven't the slightest clue about, hence the long threads of cluelessness.

My collection consists of a C64 and C64C, and a Ultimate II cart. Two Amiga 500 computers, which were replaced with a A1200 recently. A fussy Wang PC260 and a mysteriously broken Toshiba T3200SX.
I've also got two Macintosh SE computers, and one Plus. A newly fixed CD32 which sees daily use as my main games rig, and a ZX Spectrum.

Not a massive collection, but I don't have the money, nor the room for a large collection. Best I leave that to the pros for now!

I'm also a radio ham, My callsign is ZL1LMN. Maybe not the best choice, if it said fast! The only reliable place to hear me on the air is Thursday 8:00PM on 145.775 and Monday 8:00PM 3.645 LSB.

Not a bad stash. Certainly a wider range then my small collection (if you count 6 ZX Spectrums as a 'collection' (well, and an Atari 600 + 2 non working C64's (ie. just the keyboards))

Great to see another user listed as 'Auckland' here too - While I'm sure its not true, it just feels like a lot of collectors tend to live down South.

I get that feeling too. I'll check and see if it is true when I've got more spare time!

While I don't have a huge collection of actual computers, I have a huge collection of parts. No C64 mainboards though, sorry! Only ICs.

I've also never had a capacitor fail in any computer, which I consider a bragging right!

Ah, don't get too cocky The filter caps (the ones that usually blow) are more common in larger machines from 1983 and before. They don't tend to be associated with home computers with power bricks. or later models.

Looks like I'll need to get myself a larger machine from 1983 or earlier! Commodore PET computers don't come up on Trademe that often I'd guess..
