ZX81 RAM Expansion

Postby Clym5 on Wed Oct 15, 2014 9:05 pm

I'm not able to test it, as I don't own a ZX81, but it looks to be fine. It isn't marked, and seems to be 3rd party. Probably not homebrew judging from the PCB though.
I asked someone about it a few years back, and they said it was 16k, from memory.

There were a few 3rd party ram packs manufactured a while back. Did you have a photo of it? Just curious, really - I have the remnants of some 3rd party old 16k rampack I got in a box of stuff (someone had attacked it with a soldering iron). :)

I'll get some photos up next week. I don't have it with me.

From memory, it was nice and tidy inside!

Whoops! I completely forgot! Sorry!

Here's two pictures. Hopefully I'm right assuming it's for a ZX81! I had an authentic 16k RAM cart at one stage, but I didn't know what it was and now I don't know where it went. I was 6..

That is IDENTICAL to the third party one my parents bought me with my ZX81 around 1983. They probably got the package from Whitcoulls, I don't think David Ried had opened here then. (I went and sold it, my ZX81 and my ZX Printer for about $20 or $25 about 1987ish.

Still interested :)
