New to me preloved Amiga A600

Postby caluser2000 on Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:39 pm

The Amiga A600 and external fdd I bid on last week finally turned op this morning. The sellers description was spot on - a bit yellowed, keybourd especially and needs a good clean up. It looks like coffee or something on the front rh edge at some point and the cover off at some stage as well. All the same it works fine so does the extra drive. Quite chuffed.

Anyway must go and place my TM feedback. Toodle pip for now.

It cleaned up rather well with some baby wipes and one of Connies hair clips.

I see there's an A600HD up on TM now. Round 2 ding! ding!

Whats the Auction ??? Also just go for a CF card, and then setup a ClassicWB 68K

Hello. your not on about the IDE drives from rob1 are you ?? Just std ide drives. and he's a little OTT with price. Does the A600 have the HD holder as then it's an easy fix to set one up.

No not from rob1 at all. Just want a bagged A600HD. Have done for a long time. Don't mind paying a bit extra for a rustic NZ new one. You could say I'm collecting for my retirement. Silly I know.

If you ever need little parts like random keys or similar yell out.
I've got a dead A600HD carcass in the garage somewhere.

As swivel says, the CF card approach works a real treat - I mangled a copy of workbench 2.1 onto it (after many hours hacking about with getting the CF card to format properly) and it boots very quick... While its nice to see working, operating the desktop with arrow keys (no mouse) is a tad cumbersome...

My A600 had nothing inside it when I opened it (ie. I mean the shielding or HD holder that is) so fitting any type of hdd would have been awkward. It meant I could also recycle an old 128Mb CF card that was destined for a box somewhere... :)

Lost out on the HD bid in end. Set my top bid and left it at that.I hope they get a lot of joy out of it. Absolutely right about going the cf route though.
