One for you Apple boys...

Looks like a gorgeous and complete Apple IIe

$200 start, but think that could be fair considering the condition (well the condition it appears it's in). I suspect there is at least one person on here who wants a IIe for their collection.

How there's not mountains upon mountains of these IIe's turning up is beyond me, they were the computer of choice for schools all over the place. In fact, the only reason I have even the remotest interest in the Apple II is because of the nostalgia of using one at school as a kid...

Even so, I most certainly wouldn't give anyone $200 for a IIe Platinum.

Yeah one of my schools had about 15 all networked up with ribbon cable to a single floppy.

I think the reason is they were used in schools which probably dumped them, same with the BBC machines.
Where as Commodores were in schools AND all through homes.

Interesting note on the value, from an Apple outsider I thought it was pretty good but learn something new every day :)
I'd like it, but I'm the same, not worth $200 to me.

Sadly, I think more and more the NZ sellers look to fleabay to set their starting price, so our local market is starting to be dragged upwards, in spite of most NZ enthusiasts having a consensus of value.

Just thank our lucky stars that (a) the americans have plenty, and (b) we're such a remote backwater that shipping to anywhere is expensive. Otherwise the prices would be higher.

I would argue it depends on the condition and what's in the whole package.

The Apple IIe, although common enough, is a classic model. A scungy old console only, yellowed, battered and not working is just worth a few bucks. However, an Apple IIe in good physical shape, working, with genuine Apple monitor, documentation, software and disk drives is another kettle of fish.

If I didn't already have enough Apple IIes, I'd be prepared to pay $200, maybe even more, to acquire a displayable working package as described above .

I could go nostalgic and try remember the good times I had with an Apple IIe Platinum... but the biggest memory is trying to avoid having to use the IIe Platinum in favour of the IIgs ;)

Also, did anyone else spot the Mac Plus? I might have accidentally bought it...

Yes, I saw that. Interestingly at Massey Uni where I work departments regularly have have mass clean outs of computer gear. I was walking past the Science towers the other day and noticed a HUGE pile of e-waste. Most of the it was 1990s-early 2000 Macs and PCs...nothing I was interested in. However I noticed something interesting in the corner. lo and behold, a Mac Plus.

Anyway, I was going to a meeting so I resolved to come back and ask whoever was organising the dump if I could save the Mac Plus. When I returned after the meeting, the whole pile was gone! Trucked off and shipped down to Wellington. Oh well...

To tell you the truth I don't have too much interest in a Mac Plus. It's kind of a "middle child" of the baby mac line. I've got an SE/30, which I feel represents the best of the baby Macs. The only one I'm looking for now is the original 128k.

Anyone else notice that it eventually went for $460. I would have been bidding in there if it wasn't for already having a platinum that I need to get around to fixing.

Surprising. Who's dukenukem2?

Time to insure those collections guys!

I missed the 460 win, did see that other crusty Apple IIe's bids going up quite high too though.

I wonder if that dude's gonna get the $290 for his Mac Plus. I predict, he's dreaming. It looks in worse condition than the one I just bought for $28.

Yeah I spotted that and thought the same thing. Don't think the Plus is really collectable enough even in working condition for people to pay over $200 for.
I'd be tempted by a Lisa or Mac 512 though.

Yes, tempting. And it's in Palmerston North even.

This is one I am watching just to see where the price goes. I do have an Apple II+ but the sockets are a little dodgy. A spare board wouldn't hurt.
