Commodore 1531 adapter

Postby Carcenomy on Mon Apr 09, 2012 3:36 pm

I was hoping to acquire a C2N, since that's a pretty common and accepted normal thing to have with a C64. But instead I had a 1531 turn up! This is the drive for a TED-based Commodore 8-bit, thus won't plug into my 64. Has anyone got an adapter to suit since such a thing was apparently a standard Commodore part, or schematics for building an adapter?

Just found this

maybe cheaper than and interface
Chances are you will have to repair them as I seem to remember two going as a pair just recently , Also the sticker inside where the tape goes was a common place to mark a faulty on, as I was tempted myself, but settled on the two Webbles had for sale.

Yeah could be worth doing. The 1531 looks so much tidier though, with its sexy charcoal exterior ;)

Yeah true. I don't have any cassette media at this stage anyway, so it's absolutely not an issue yet.

VHT vinyl dye works awesome for recolouring plastics too - I got a standard old Amiga external floppy for my CDTV and dyed it black, rather than trying to locate the incredibly uncommon CDTV-specific unit ;)

A CDTV keyboard and the trackball would be better investments though, then it would be a really useful machine :)
