os/2 related items

Postby caluser2000 on Sun Aug 05, 2012 4:52 pm

I'm after anything OS/2 related. System disks/CDs, manuals, applications, utilities, promotional material etc.

I may have some stuff around - I was on the board of the local Access (Community) Radio station in the late 90's, we had two OS/2 PCs running PCM_Gold automation software, and I remember seeing some Warp media when we moved here in '03. It's possibly still in a box in the workshop, assuming I haven't disposed of it.

If you're not in any particular hurry let me know and I'll keep an eye out :)

If I see anything I'll let you know.
Went for a quick look myself on ebay, thought I might import a copy, but the prices are higher than I'd anticipated.

I've got some stuff around - Shareware disks, a copy of Warp 3.0 (Educational license, but on CD rather then 10+ floppies). I may have them somewhere in the room here, but I'll have a look around if its the kind of stuff you're looking for...

Well, I'm still digging through an amassed collection of 20+ years of old CDR's and CD's (buried under a stockpile of FDD's and ZIP disks - I told people here, yes, I am a hoarder! )

I managed to find the Hobbes OS/2 CD Rom compilation (shareware, demos, etc) from August 1994. I just tested it - its reading OK, so all good. Its always funny to look at these old disks from Walnut Creek and recall the days of being "BBS ready". Before the whole Internet_at_home thing, that was a great era of computing that I remember fondly. :D

OS/2 warp 3 is "somewhere" (but not in the 3+ boxes I went through, but I did also find an old Australian Personal Computer magazine from Jun 2000 that had full versions of OS/2 Warp 4.0 (plus beOs and Redhat) on a CD cover disk (which is still sealed in plastic, surprisingly).

I'll keep looking for Warp 3 - its lying about here. But I am still living in boxes after almost 5 years of shifting from my last house (ie. a case of "I never realised we had so much crap! Oh well, have to leave it in a box for now" )

If you want these, no problems. You can just shoot me a message here on the forum if you have a postal address you want them sent to... I'll try and find the other Warp installer for you as well. :D

Received the mag and cds thanks Kev. I'll fire up my OS/2 v3 box on the weekend and see what goodies are on the Hobbes CD.

Groovy... If I can find that OS2 Warp disk I'll send it, but I can't find anything in this mess... :-)

I've a fair assortment; I run P390 machines (which are based on OS/2), and ran an OS/2 webserver until last year. So quite well supplied for assorted OS/2 stuff, especially more recent - WSEB etc. Also comms utilities, communication server, MQ series?, bunch of other stuff.

And somewhere I have stashed away a rear rara avis; a stack of CDs containing a copy of the IBM DEMOPKG system for OS/2 (a prebuilt demonstration OS/2 system with virtually *everything* IBM ever wrote for OS/2 preinstalled) which was officially never supposed to leave IBM! - just don't tell *anyone*!

Oooops.

Bugger.

Too late ;-)

Here's a couple of VERY oddball ones you might like :-)

No idea, I'm hardly expert but it looks like v4 Warp with some terminal emulaters. I've ended up with a copy Advanced server based on v3. A copy of OS/2 for dummies turned up the other week as well so I'm all set

Still on the hunt for for more OS/2 related bits'n bobs though.

Heh. It's a custom system, it's the code that run the IBM 2074 mainframe terminal console control unit... ESCON card hookup to mainframe, emulated 3270 terminals connect via TCP/IP. IBM used OS/2 a lot for mainframe support stuff.
