ITTxtra (8088 clone?)

Postby tezza on Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:26 pm

Hi,

I was contacted by someone (John) living in Wellington who kindly offered me a vintage machine for free. I've no room for it but I asked him if he was happy for me to post a notice here on his behalf. Perhaps someone reading this might want it.. Here is what he said about it:

It is branded as an ITTxtra make and model, but also carries the name of STC New Zealand Ltd (now part of Alcatel Lucent) for whom it was originally made, and from whom I acquired it second-hand about 20 years ago.

I have not used it for about 10 years, and during that time it has been stored in my basement, where it has been protected from dust and dirt, but not damp. As a result there is now some minor corrosion on the casing of the box and on the cable connectors.

I cannot find a year of manufacture, but the model numbers and serials are as follows:
Box - Model 84704-02 Serial J2N 001570
Monitor - Model 99262-02 Rev A Serial J1B 044538

I think this is an early 8088 clone. It could be mildly collectable. Even the parts (like two 360k drives) might be useful.

Anyway if you are interested please send me a PM through the forums here, and I'll give you John's email. I haven't posted John's email here as I'd rather genuine forum members get the opportunity to get this, rather than just anyone browsing the forums.

Good one. I'd be interested in some pics or two when you have it set up.

Definitely!
Will also make sure the video camera is charged. I suspect this will be my Saturday afternoon.

These were quite nice machines. I worked for a company that provided computer systems for hotel guest accounting in the early 90's and we used a lot of these networked using Novell Netware. There were a number in Wellington with Quality Hotels. This was back in the day when the machines were NZ$12000 each and the company made a healthy margin.
