Another cafe meeting of the "Wellington" NZVCF group?

Postby tezza on Wed Jan 23, 2013 6:54 pm

I'm thinking it must be time to have another lunch meeting of those of us in the lower North Island. I'm thinking of maybe the same cafe in Paraparaumu we used last time. It's not too far to travel for those of us further up the island. Perhaps Sunday 10th Feb? Bring a few (small) things to show and tell maybe?

Any interest from anyone?

Sounds good to me, I'm free on the 10th.

Ill have to pass sorry as I'm moving one of our branches that weekend.

Fortunately that gives me a good excuse not to have to take the Dragon along as it's not really that small.

I'll monitor to confim dare but count me in.

'small'... hmmm... that rules out about 90% of my collection :D

'small' means 'carry in one hand' as opposed to 'doesn't need a truck, can fit in the back of a ute'...?

haha I've been trying to work out what to bring too, can't think of anything small that I can make do-something, but my Toshiba T5200 does have a handle...hmmm.

Hoping a few of the other guys around here confirm too.

So, that's Me, SpidersWeb and (maybe) Corestore so far. Anyone else?

I suggest we use the same venue as last time:

The Office Cafe
36 Marine Parade, Paraparaumu Beach

Grab lunch there 12.00 pm, chat and swap stories for a couple of hours? If we could firm up numbers I could book before the event so we have a table large enough. No pressure to bring anything if you don't want to (or everything is just too big!) Andrew bought his mini-Altair last time which was fun to see.

Count me in. I'll need to confirm closer to time, but I should be able to make this. I'll probably have both my boys with me this time :)

After Philip showing off his Tandy Model 102 last time, I'm tempted to bring my pimped out Z88. The keyboard's not a patch on the Tandy though.

I'm not sure that qualifies as "small." I asked permission before I set up the 8800micro last time.

If anyone's keen to have another play with it, I have a nicer screen and a smaller (though somewhat crappy) keyboard for it now, as well as the 88DSK-RAM board which gives it twin emulated floppies and a full 64K RAM, running CP/M. The second drive has the Zork trilogy loaded at the moment :)

Who can confirm? So far we seem to have Me, lizardb0y, SpidersWeb and CoreStore?

Most of you know what gear the others have. Anyone got a burning desired to see anything in the flesh (within transportable limits)? I could lug a Kaypro II or Osborne 1 down if anyone's interested?
