lol I was going to post it here for you (although I know you just got one)

When I was a younger I had an IBM, it shipped with this standard but dual booting WIndows 3.1 (free Win95 upgrade voucher, so it wasn't long before that was all replaced).

"Connect" blue spine is a better version of v3 to get IMHO. Comes with 3.x Windows support(don't have to use an existing win 3.1) and networking as part of the complete package. In saying that this is still a good option if someone is curious about OS/2 in general though.

I'd imagine upgrading to Windows 95 would've ditched the OS/2 installation

I've got a wee Aptiva 486 that this would be just lovely for.

Good luck Carcenomy.

IIRC there was an issue with some Aptivas. From memory the solution was to swap out the original non-parity simms. IBM actually offered to exchange these , less postage, back in the day.

Yeah the machine I talked about before was an IBM Aptiva Pentium 75 - so it'd probably be a good match time-wise.

Yeah caluser - DOS/3.1/OS2 all got lost after the 95 CD arrived! Funny how these days using 3.1 or OS/2 is considerably more interesting than 95.

Apart from vfat with long file names the original Windows 95 personally I didn't see any real advantage over dos/wfw at the time. It also lacked FAT32 support. Its possible to have a similar look n feel in dos/win 3.x/wfw if you added the Calmira shell- http://www.calmira.de/ I was using this combination at home into the 2000s bypassing Windows 95 altogether and went straight to Windows 98 then on to XP. I do have all copies of Win9x in my collection now though. Along with various flavours of NT3.x/4.

Of course OS/2 is just different , quirks and all.

I know at work Win95 was a bit better with our practice management system (ISIS-CA) than DOS/WFW/Win32s. National IM didn't approve, but I had no major trouble getting the Ingres Win32s TCP/IP client to work in Win95 at the same time as Microsoft's Netware client, while it was always a little "interesting" with WFW.

I remember that the MS Mail / Schedule Plus integration was a little better in 95 as well. Oh, those were the days :)

Wow...

If I'd known you were going to just throw that up on Trademe to make money from it, I wouldn't have given it to you for nothing... I thought you were collecting this stuff? :?

So you will be adding "yuda" to your "foes" list ?

lol! No - I'm not angry, just thought I was helping out an enthusiast with a few freebee bits, and not just to provide something to chuck up and make a few bucks off only two or so weeks after I sent it.

In the end, I didn't need it anyway... Oh well, that was the last of the OS/2 stuff (I think) that I had laying about here, and I'm not really going to miss it... :|

Caluser wasn't selling it, just posting it for us because he already had a copy.

As Spidey mentions Kev I didn't sell it. The copy you sent is in good company with my 3.5" disk version. BTW my TM user name is mark.p and the last time I looked I lived in the other big island. No not the one the the west, the one to the norf.

As I mentioned in my Wanted thread-Thanks ;)

And machinecoder-unless you know who you exactly who are refering to please be so kind as to butt out.

Terry feel free to remove anything I've posted if you feel it breaks forum rules.

Regards Mark.

Point to note Terry happened to agree with my comment about RT being childish when whining in one of the auctions. My comment about you to but out of something Kev got totally incorrect seems quite reasonable.

meh, whether Terry agrees or not is not terribly relevant, I'd probably rather he didn't read this :P

I was only cracking a joke so get over it Mark, as I was even refering to you, and stop being so childish !

I actually read it the same way Cal did, so I'm not surprised he was a wee bit annoyed after being falsely accused in the post above. I'm pretty sure he's over it anyway, "butt out" isn't the worst thing I've read on the internet lol

An easy way, to stop drama like this is really just to go 'Ah sorry! I meant it as a joke' without any extra fluff.

Fun times.

Wasnt me, I just cracked a friendly joke , and the joke did not even involve Mark ?

Oh did you think kev gave it to Yuda off trademe?

What happened in brief:
> Kev gives copy to Caluser
> Calusers posts link to a copy Yuda on trademe is selling
> Kev thinks that trademe user is Caluser and calls him out
> You quote that and make a joke (I'm guessing you thought the quote was towards Yuda, but it was towards Cal)

This is a bit long winded, but I'm bored, and it's keeping me entertained. Hopefully I'm not annoying anyone.
