Vectrex

Hi all

Here's an unusual one. A vectrex system

http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/vint ... 322107.htm

I'm having to post this via my Vodafone mobile. I haven't been able to reach classic computers via my laptop for the past 36 hours or so (Maxnet). Not sure what is going on there. The tracert dies after christchurch.247hosting.net.nz. If it doesn't clear in another day or so I'll do a bit more testing but site is obviously working so hopefully a localised problem

Cheers

That is an unusual looking beast. I know nothing about these games systems but I can see that the designs often have a very retro look about them.

The Vectrex is an awesome little system and it remains one of my most played with consoles as its aged so well.
Even today the Vector monitor still gives the games appearance a unique "futuristic" appearance that doesn't have a modern comparison.
It is just like having a tiny Vector arcade machine in your home.

If you up for it there are also some (hard to find and expensive) unique add-ons to get; the LightPen and 3D googles.

Pretty good homebrew scene for it as well with some good games poduced in the last few years - Protector (Defender) and Y*A*S*I (Yet Another Space Invaders) are great.
Multicarts (SD Card + Cart) are also available which makes the game library easily accessible to someone who just has the console.

I was very tempted to have a crack at it, but I see Mr Turner has just lept into the fray. I think his pockets are deeper than mine :) Very cool bit of history though.

I have 2. I spent $500 on an import that had a carry case and 20 or so games with overlays.
I love them lots.
