Nice demo Harvey, fully exploiting the 8-bit chipset. I like the music.

As to you question: "Is it worthwhile re-developing on a 30 year old computer?" the answer is if you and others enjoy the challenge, then in my book that is reason enough. :)

2 more Work in Progress demos have been released on the official website:

http://playsoft.co.uk/gtiablast.html

And I have uploaded these 2 videos of them on Youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxWhi6Z4 ... ZSvzbNCElQ

There will not be any more demos etc released in the near future - we think - until around Xmas time? Mybe just one?

About every 6 to 9 months there will be something released - to keep alive interest in what we are doing..

The above 2 demos are using the GTIA modes 10 and 11 which have never been used within a game context - to my knowledge...
The previous demo was in GTIA 9 - which had not been used as extensively as this example shows - ie. it was used in a lesser extent - much simpler form until now...

There is something present in these two demos over the previous one - and so the previous one will be upgraded a little more...

Anyway these GTIA graphics modes are not seen on any other 8-bit computers at all, but only on Atari.

We are considering making GTIABlast! available on cartridge - and possibly squeezing it down to run on 16k machines???
Because there are still a lot of 16k machines out there - which have not been upgraded to 48k...

There are many reasons why we are working on this project - like - because we can - and no one else can? because this should have been done 25 something years ago - because it's fun! because it's challenging. To make a statement, etc etc etc.
