Welling e-day units have gone. Where are the others?

Postby tezza on Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:50 pm

Well, the Wellington e-day lots have gone. Some fierce bidding in the end. I was surprised at how much the Apple IIe went for!

I'm wondering if we will see any more from other centres though? It's been a week.

Me too!! I'm glad I'm not in the market for an Apple IIe at the moment! I think the Fat Mac went for a reasonable price, given that it powered up and booted a floppy fine - bit too much for me tho.

Wow! A signed Apple II. Rare and a good price.

Let us know if it fires up Matt. Chances are it won't but even not working that is still a bargin.

Ah well, I bit the bullet and took the buy now on the II+. Now for a plain rice diet for the next month or two.

I saw it when it went up but thought would leave it for Matt. I didn't know anyone else was looking. Maybe I should start to think with a little more self-interest and think of the collection as an investment as in the last year or so I have been leaving the most valuable items I see for sale for others.

That was a $250 Buy Now + $50 shipping.

Maybe I should get me some of them "Signed by Woz" drives to with it :) http://www.signedbywoz.com/product8.php

I've been looking out (on and off) for an Apple II for a decade or so, so I was a bit disappointed to have missed it. C'est la vie :)

Those drives will definitely work. Anything with a Woz signature is immune to the laws of physics and electronic fatigue syndrome. Also, I think given the proximity of the drives to the II+, theres is a fairly good likelihood that the II+ would have absorbed some of the electroWoznetic field and also be in working order.

If not, the signatures are fake and I'll happily take the drives off your hands so you dont have to look at them and be reminded of how you were scammed.

Hehehe...of course, the WOZ factor.

Come to think of it, one of my Apple books has a introduction by Woz with a printed signature at the bottom. Being just a copy, it will have considerably diminished powers. However, if I cut it out and insert it permanently into one of the slots of my Apple II+. it may supply enough aura to keep the RAM chips healthy for years!

I have an Apple II (serial number 999) that was upgraded by the Woz himself in 1981 to a Apple II+ (Unfortunately... as it no longer has the original REV0 board (luckily I have another Apple II (serial 5394) which was one of the last of the original REV0's)). He signed the case when he did the upgrade and hand wrote a '+' symbol next to the apple II logo. This machine is in storage in the US, not sure what to do with it exactly...may just re-sell it. It also came with the very original loose pages manual for the Apple II which I believe is the biggest score of the purchase.

Maybe I'll post a picture to show you guys, even though I've never seen the actual machine myself.

Anyway...

I've been desperate for Apple 2's with Apple screens, and when I saw those two pop up on trade me I had to jump on them.
Especially the signed Woz ones. Lucky for me I'm on paternity leave atm so got to snap them up before anyone came home from work :)

Did you get the IIe as well? Those signed drives are cool alright - I would have been tempted to buy that II+ (if I'd seen it) just for those alone - no need of a Apple II system itself tho.
