running 12volt computer on 9volts ,good or bad?

Postby RonTurner on Tue Jul 08, 2014 9:27 pm

I have been running my VZ-200 on 9volts but the original adapter was a 12volt, will this damage it eventually? It runs nice and cool on 9 volts DC. With virtually no detectable heat on the plastic case at 9v I decided to stick with the lower voltage.

Plus I'm planning a hires upgrade on one of mine, if anyone knows how to address the nasty pixel crawl these things have, even through the composite out, please let me know.

I suspect it has an internal regulator, so if it's stable on 9V, it must be a good thing... if anything, it'll reduce the power loss across the regulator and keep things a bit cooler and more reliable.
