Ran across this the other day - Its Atari's 1980s guide book to maintaining arcade game machines. However it literally covers most of the basics
of electronics - from equipment, soldering techniques, as well as going into understanding IC's and more. It says its not designed to help people become electronic engineers (obviously) but it is a lot more accessible to lesser experienced people (ie. me) with some very basic understanding of things.
Its oddly enough called "The Book". Mark fixes stuff
placed a PDF scan of the 186 pages on his blog if you're interested.http://markfixesstuff.co.uk/retro-repair/retro-pdf-the-book-a-guide-to-electronic-game-operation-and-servicing-by-atari-1980/
