Your experiences with bbc master 128?

by mds_vcf » Wed Jun 12, 2019 4:53 pm

Just bought a bbc master 128 on tm. Hadn't expected to win it - the "must pick up" in Dunedin may have worked in my favour.

Like to hear any and all experiences with these machines. If you used one at George St Normal in Dunedin this might be it.

Has anyone had the power and caps-lock leds flash when you switch on, and a loud clicking noise? Mine has done this twice now on cold mornings then come right later in the day.

Anyone know where to get domino type 5 pin din plugs?

Cheers, Matt.

I haven't but it sounds like a problem I once had with an Apple IIe. I can't recall now what it was but I think it was PSU related..

Yep I reckon PSU is a good bet. I'll ask on comp.sys.acorn.hardware or the stardot forums. Always wanted a 2e but the bbc still has a good following online and is very much a contemporary machine. The "scene" is mainly in the uk but that hardly matters these days with the inter-web thingy:-)

Recap yer PSU - the 128's supply is a bit more finnicky than the Compact, can cause some pretty whacky errata.
Just the local Commodore hobo and middle-aged PC hoarder.
eisa on Trademe. A lasting reminder of a Compaq fetish when I was younger.
