Early IBM machines and parts

Rebuilding my collection of goodies, good home and will guarantee nothing will be wasted - will do my best to repair anything that stops working.
Don't expect handouts, but can't quite pay ebay pricing

Machines on my wishlist:
- IBM PC AT
- IBM PS/2 (any models)
- Early Compaq's
- Amstrad CPC6128 if local (Wellington or Hutt Valley)

Bits:
- 8 bit 10Base2 network card(s) - even better if it has a UTP connector but wont push my luck!
- 8 bit VGA adaptor
- genuine IBM PC and PC-XT peripherals/accessories (keyboards etc).
- MFM drives and/or controlelrs
- Any documentation, adverts or manuals regarding the IBM's 1982-1986 (I currently have the 5150 Basic Guide of Operations and the DOS book)

I can't help on real deal IBM stuff, BUT!

I do have some MFM bits lying around, and I definitely have network cards. 3Com Etherlink IIs. Just like this wee chap:

Had a bag of boot ROMs for 'em too! Possibly got some early DtK XT-class hardware spare too.

Before I can fish all that gear out though, I need to get a Wizard of Wor cart sent and figure out how the heck I'm going to package an Amiga 500 Just PM me with any specifics and I'll see what I can dredge from the woodwork.

That sounds epic, that 3Com looks nice!
I'll be in touch to see what you have found after (and IF) I get these XT/AT's from Hamilton.
I suspect I'll be wanting to find two network cards - 8 bit + 8 or 16bit non-plug'n'play, maybe a 3rd if I could fix that 386.

Setting up an card to boot over the network could be an extremely handy tool, any idea what protocols were on those ROMs?
Would make my own but finding a cheap ROM burner doesn't seem as easy today as it was in yesteryear

Have a server in the house that I could easily setup as a boot server (runs Debian etc).

Stuff I really need but will only pay reasonable rates:

- XT keyboard ($10-20ish?)
- AT keyboard ($10-20ish?)
- 16 bit ISA network card(s) with 10Base2 / UTP (I could get a AUI adaptor to make them UTP though). ($5-20?)
- Another 1 or 2 IDE hard discs which do not need to use LBA (even a 1Gb drive with a Limit jumper would be great). (can get these delivered for ~$70 - so less than that)
- XT/AT cases, no PSU necessary, any brand but must fit old style PSU, prefer them not to have rust holes. (price neg but shipping will be a killer so not toooo high)

Stuff I'll pay more than the going rate for:

- MFM hard drives (another 1 or 2 would be nice) (Price Neg)
- Hercules monochrome monitor <-- !!!!!!!!!!
- IBM PC XT keyboard
- spare Tandon 360Kb with TRES fitted (its the terminating resistor added to the last drive in the chain)

Things I will allow myself to spend huge on:

- Seagate ST412 in operating condition (preferably with controller but not essential)
- IBM CGA card and matching IBM 5153 monitor
- IBM PC-AT 5170

Can pay in cash, and/or ROM favours when my Willem arrives from China. The UV eraser FINALLY turned up today just need the rest of the kit!

Apart from a jet engine-sounding Rodime brick, marked intermittent sector not found, no MFM drives left; sadly ISTRC also throwing out old Kalok octagon & early IBM? RLL drives much earlier.
That Rodime maybe 5MB is likely not really useable except as an artifact.
But I do have some few MFM/RLL controller XT boards, I think.

- any IDE hard drive below 500Mb - smaller the better

You might like this perfectly functioning item I spray-painted satin black from beige years ago, all dismantled to do so & even a green metallic spot for the on-off knob, & years later stored since seems still fine ... an Intra brand mono monitor:

Please forgive me if I'm breaking any rules here with my first post on this forum. (I'm sure y'all will 'educate' me in a hurry... Hehe)
I notice that you are after ANY brand of CGA card and I just happen to have one here in front of me.
It's NOT an IBM original (It's a combo CGA + LPT). I can post up some pix of it if you're interested?
The DB25 socket for the LPT port is rather rusty, but I'm sure it can be cleaned up. Also, the light-pen input header pins are bent. (Those header pins can normally be bent and then half-way straightened up before they plain break off!)
I have NOT tested it, but I know it was 'working' when it was pulled many many moons back.

I'm not interested in ANY money. However, I will GLADLY exchange it for an 8-bit ISA Trident VGA card with a socketed BIOS ROM
It might sound a little weird, but I need the Trident 8-bit ISA VGA card for a genuine PRODUCTION system that's STILL in use today. (Scary huh?)
(If anyone is interested in WHY I need it, I'll gladly elaborate. I've already installed one, but I really need a second one for the alternate / backup machine)

I've actually ended up importing most of the pieces I've needed or found them on trademe.

Currently the only thing I'm hunting for is an IBM AT case and power supply - which is going to cost $300 from the US

I only have one 8 bit card that does VGA, not sure if it's a Trident though, but it's my backup as it also does CGA/EGA/MDA, and I think I'd regret trading/selling that off. I was just searching on ebay for you, but good lord 8 bit VGA is expensive!!! If I had more than one I'd help. Best of luck to you, are you in NZ?

And maybe make a new thread about this production machine, I'm quite interested
