lol
Good rant. Reminds me of when I go to fancy restaurants.
The Model M uses a particular keyswitch which is favourable in modern competitive gaming - e.g. not the guys who just do it for casual fun time. It's quite easy to preload the keys and hold them just above the click point - to a normal person it wouldn't make a difference - but when you're playing with the best that extra millisecond or two can actually make the difference. People start doing everything to their machines to make sure they're getting 100% and any failures are there own skill. $120 for a specialist keyboard with a spare isn't bad - my gaming keyboard I'm using cost $300 (and funnily enough, I actually don't like the key feel!! Oh well).
Then you get the people that don't need it, but want it so they look the part etc. Like the people who wear shirts with logos and have no idea what they mean. And of course the 'omg old keyboard on new computer' people.
I have way too many keyboards here, and the Model M certainly has a different feel. Not for me personally, I'm more of a Model F fan.
With the one I linked, value will just be from collectors who need one, if you wait though you can usually find them cheaper.
No idea who the winners were.
