If you like word games and are highly competitive, you might enjoy a game that was designed to be the best of the Hangman / Wheel of Fortune category.

Especially good with 3 or 4 players and can be played comfortably from across the room.

The dungeon scoring system is unique and was described as "admittedly the animation is nifty" in a review in Run magazine of Oct 1992.

I recently discovered your web series. Nice.

I would like to note some things though. The volume is sometimes too low; you could speak little louder. Also that it would be nice to add some video clips of that time. Like ads or reports about the then new computer you are reviewing.

For the Sinclair QL you mentioned though it has multitasking. Correct, but it was also the first commercially available computer that had it, predating the Amiga by more than a year.

There is also a nice video I recommend from 1983 or so where a young Bill Gates talks about the MSX computers (did you ever make an episode of these?). And then a quite arrogant Clive Sinclair bitching about Gates and that Sinclair had the UK market on his grasp, with no chance Microsoft could get a larger share. Then he sais it gets even better, since the Sinclair QL was just around the corner. Well that didn't work. But nice witness of time. I could try to locate this video (runs about 20 minutes) if interested.

And for the Osborne. As far as I know they didn't go bust because others had similar devices but with larger screens. Rather than he announced the Executive too early, wasn't able to get it on the shelves, and people canceled Osborne 1 orders. It became to be known as the "Osborne Effect" <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_effect>

Loved your Dick Smith System 80 pages. I had one back in the day, which I sadly fried after owning it a few months by using on a beanbag and blocking the ventilation holes. :( I didn't get a new 'puter until the Commodore Amiga came along, which was also impressive and affordable for its time, compared to the competition.

I'm a Microsoft-compatible man since the turn of the century, but old computers one owned have a special place in the geek heart - thanks for your voluminous efforts at keeping the memories going!

Much nostalgia! I started off with a Sinclair ZX81, Commodore VIC20 and then a 64. Then an Acorn Electron plus a Memotech MTX at the same time.

The oldest machine I have curently is a Sinclair Z88 in working condition.

I'm currently looking for a power supply for my Olivetti JP 170 printer. I think it is not old enough to be a classic but like a lot of "modern" things it is old enough to not have any parts available. How best to contact anyone who might have one lying around?

I have a lot of 5.25" and 3.5" discs if you want them, plus a few 3" ones (was going to be the IBM standard but got superseded).

Yes, I remember Sinclairs and Commodore 64's, etc. In York I flatted with a Computer/printer repairman, and we went to sales, fairs, etc, as well as building units, servicing, etc. Occasionally old units and material appear around here for recycling or just dumped. I have several units stored, but cannabalised for parts, so probably not operational. If I have spare time, I will see if I can get them going.

Hello from Newfoundland, Canada! I've really enjoyed the historical perspective and the gritty details that you've posted in your videos, just recently found the site here from one of them. I actually have a Tandy model 200 "clamshell" style laptop that I bought from a collector long ago that's in good shape as far as I can tell...if I get the chance I'll have to post some pictures and the like on the forums (not interested in selling it at this point, though if it'd help get more videos made I might donate it, I'm more interested in the technology than trying to scrape together a few dollars out of it :) ). Particularly interesting was all of the perspective on Sir Clive Sinclair, I couldn't help but laugh when the picture of him in the C5 popped up in one of the ZX-line videos...I think sometimes his ideas got the green light just on the amount of sheer enthusiasm and confidence he had in his ideas, even if the end result (like the Black Watch and its exploding batteries) was a bit zany.

Anyway keep up the good work!

I just found your site and am struggling through setting up an emulator. I loved the TRS-80. We a had it as one of our first computers...after a Heathkit. My dad still has his systems and almost all of the disks, tapes, etc. We even have manuals. It is hard to explain when you say you were the only one in the neighborhood to have a computer. All the kids in the neighborhood would pile into our living room. Thank you for having this site.

You have revived my interest into old (classic now, but were new when I was a kid) computers and, as a consequence, I should be receiving today a TRS-80 Model 102 that I have purchased from eBay. Can't wait...

With all the different articles you have written, I know what to expect from ageing machines with regards to leaking batteries, exploding capacitors, old forgotten hacks done on circuit boards, getting software, ...
