Thanks for all your effort. Love your videos. The only sad thing was when you said "That's the last video" and I realized, they don't make home computers anymore and once you reviewed all, that's it.
Still I watch your videos from time to time for sentimental reasons.

Hey Terry!
I found your YouTube channel not long ago and have been working my way through every one of your videos. I have been greatly enjoying the content that you have created and wanted to share a note of appreciation for all of the work that you've put in to preserve computing history.
I'm probably a youngin' to you folks but I got my start programming BASIC on an old Apple IIe that a friend of mines father owned. Vintage computing really set the stage to my computing career. I wish I could collect like you do, but am forced to early laptops due to space constraints. Oh the woes of being a startup engineer living in California... space comes at a premium
I am happy to say I am writing this on a Compaq 5300. It's a joy to be signing a guestbook with period hardware... it's been a few years
Thanks for everything man, your channel and site are a goldmine!
Best,
- John

Hi Terry.
Love your work, and your YouTube channel. Great to see some of the old computers, and I admire your work to preserve software from these old systems.
I'm trying to preserve some of these old type-in programs, so I was happy to see your scans of "NZ bits and bytes" which we never saw here over the pond.
I was wondering if you had those magazines still around and could re-scan the C64 listings in issues 3-1 (Meteor Smash) and 4-4 (Galactic Gladiator, Martian Lander) in a higher resolution as I can't read them clearly enough to get a working program. Yes I know that magazine listings were wonderfully hit-and-miss back in the day, but I would like to try and give them some justice for preservation.
You could send them to my email if you like. Cheers!

First system was Ohio Scientific "Superboard": bring your own power supply, monitor, I/O. Morphed through three Tandys (Tandies?), including model 200 portable, and four "PowerSpec" systems, made by Micro Center (my current employer) Nowadays, I use a nine-year-old MacBook to create the RV club chapter Web site, write and teach How-To Clinics for Micro Center Customers, and view "vintage silicon" sites like your own!

Just discovered your wonderful site as I get back into retro-computing. As Firesign Theater's Nick Danger says, "Thanks, you've saved me a lot of investigative work!"
You really should check out Jim Battle's Sol-20 emulator and add it to your list.

Thanks for the comment Robert. At the moment the emulator list only contains the machines I actually have. I need to check this one out though.

Hi Terry. I saw your tweet about the Dick Smith colour board. I never saw such a thing.
I have the TRS-80 Hardware Manual. Do you have a copy? I guess it might be worth figuring out where this board would connect to.
As an aside I have a lower case TRS-80
The character generator is capable of lower case. You need to solder on an 8th RAM chip though as a piggyback on one of the existing chips. The address line is one of the legs bent outwards and soldered on by a short wire.

Hi Terry We are all getting older (I'm 78) and the question arises what to do with our keepsakes? System 80's and Colour genies. My 4 children between 22 and 29 aren't going to be interested. Although I haven't turned the computers on for some time I suspect they will still go. I did have a hex keypad on my System 80 and an Atari type joystick connector beyond that. I've also seen an advertisement for Custom Computers who did a lot of upgrades for me.

You could consider handing it over to enthusiasts of the younger generation. Perhaps someone like Neil from "Retro Man Cave"? In his 40s, very passionate and nice guy of the highest order. Or somebody "in that category".

Hi Terry,
I like your retro videos, and I hope that you will also do some on those software that were the heyday 3 or 4 decades ago, like Visicalc, 123, Wordstar, Dbase etc. I recommend you try out Ashton Tates' Framework II(or III or IV) that runs on top of MSDOS and has a user interface similar to Windows, way before Windows came onto the scene.
Best regards
Albert

Thank you for your nice videos. When I was child (around 6 years old) I stare my eyes over these circuit boards and 8bit computers. I was dreamed on what happen inside them. Electrons moving one way, bits flying and big brothers words hanging around with their friends. Then what happened my father bought me C64 with tape drive. And my dreams comes true and my career began. Now I m Electrical Engineer and programming machines. When I watched your clips on Youtube I feel same childhood days inside me. Thank you again. Good job. Regards.

Greetings, Terry!
I've seen your postings on VCFED and recently saw one on the subject of using ADT to transfer to an Apple IIgs. Came by here to look for a link but couldn't find it. Ah, well.

After being "infected" by a CBM 3016 around 1980, my first owned machine was a Colour Genie in 1982. Very good memories, even got it off the attic recently, hooked up to a 50" flatscreen... still the same blurry screen But: my youngest >really< enjoyed playing Frogger and others, and I played Invasion for the first time in decades. Hard to get the software onto the machine, so started a software cassette player: did not want to have all these WAV files but play directly from CAS selection lists. Maybe make it a bit more polished and flexible, then make available for download. Anyone knows regarding copyright still active on these tapes? Doubt it, but you never know.
Tezza, thanks for this nice site, I think I have to get some software running and also find out which manuals or books I still have, not to forget the old Z80 books. Some might be in my parents attic still, unfortunately far away at the other end of Germany), but I should get this packed in one place here.
Keep up the nice site!
Matthias

Hi,
I have been doing some searching on an old Telecom computer I have in the garage. found out it is a ICL one per desk from your site. Any ideas on how much it is worth as I need to clean some space. It is an awfully big and heavy machine.

Hi Matthew,
Hard to say really. They are somewhat collectible and interesting but they are not regarded as classics. Anything between $50 and $300 maybe?
